INCIDENT IN HOTEL

A barman in an hotel in Timaru appropriated a soldier’s change for a debt incurred the previous day. As a sequel a full handle of beer hurtled over his head, smashing a bottle of ■urn and a bottle of gin and shattering two panes of glass. The soldier, Patrick Houlihan, subsequently appeared in the Police Court and was sentenced to 14 days’ imprisonment.
