MEASURES FOR DEFENCE AUSTRALIAN ASSURANCE (British Official Wireless.) Reed. noon. RUGBY, Oct. 30. The arrival in Britain of Sir Earle Page, the special representative of the Australian Government, is warmly welcomed in London.

Sir Earle Page is expected to discuss with the British Government Australia’s attitude towards the war strategy, particularly in the Pacific and the Near East. On arrival he told interviewers that the defence measures, which he saw over the whole Pacific area, had been enormously strengthened -and were becoming stronger every day.

Sir Earle Page attended a meeting of the War Cabinet to-day.
