86 TURIHAUA BULLS ABERDEEN ANGUS BREED PRICES REACH 721GNS Bidding was more spirited during the afternoon's selling of Mr. H. B. Williams’ Aberdeen-Angus bulls yesterday, when the Turihnua Stud’s seventh annual sale was held in the presence of a good bench of buyers. Among the competition was some from Wairoa and Hawke's Bay, for which districts several of the bulls were purchased.

In all,- 118 bulls were catalogued. Of these 35 were not offered, and three others not in the catalogue were submitted to the buyers, making a total offering of 3G two-year-olds, all of which were sold without reserve. The average price for 39 sold up to noon was 33Igns„ but the prices improved during the afternoon, and the sale finished with an average of 34Jgns. for the entire 8G sold. Last year's average was 35igns.

The top price was 72Jgns. for a son of M.M.J. of Turihaua sold to Mr. A. B. Williams, Tokomaru Bay. The next highest price, which was secured during the morning, was 64gns„ while two others were disposed of at 60gns. and two more at 54gns. and 50gns. respectively, making six which sold at 50gns. or more.

The sale was conducted by the combined 'auctioneers, including the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Co-operative Company. Limited, whose representative, Mr. N. Stewart, remarked before the opening, of the sale on Mr. Williams' purchase at the recent Danncvirke fair. This bull, although unplaced at the show prior to the sale, secured first prize in his class when shown in Hawke’s Bay. Mr. Williams was the judge of the Aberdeen-Angus classes, but that class was handed over to Mr. E. R. Jefferson for adjudication. Prices secured after noon yesterday were as follows, the prices being grouped . according to the different sires, while the numerals are" the sale numbers:—
