SUCCESSFUL DANCES (Herald Correspondent.) Despite torrential rain, a good dowel assembled at the Motuhora Hall : tr a children’s party organised by a committee of ladies in Motuhora. “iictren from Molu also were present, :tcl the hall presented a gay scene, a umber of fancy costumes being worn. Musical accompaniment for the ’•wring and games was played by Mrs. C. Whitehead and Miss Una Reed, and i sumptuous afternoon tea was provided. Following the children’s party a successful dance organised by a committee of men was held and the proceeds donated to the soldiers’ parcel •fund. Music was played by Miss Una Reed and enjoyable extras were given by Miss J. Jackson and Messrs. S. Davis, A. Crozicr and K. Waiwatai. Mr. W. J. Rood was an efficient M.C. Winners of the card tournament were Mrs. Lovell and Mr. G. T. Hutchins, other prizes going to Mrs. T. Jackson and Mr. E. Whitehead. A novelty lance was won by Mr. and Mrs. T. Parker, and Master Horton Stewart was the winner of a competition During an interval Mrs. J. C. Stewart, Gisborne, sang two delightful vocal solos. On behalf of the organisers, Vlr. B. Penberthy thanked everyone for their support, and announced that the committee had decided to hold a dance each month for patriotic purposes. While paying a brief visit to Motu apt week'. Mrs. J. McKinnon and Mr. Bruce McKinnon, Tattranga. were intOßtained in a delightful manner by their hostess, Mrs. F. Road, who held i jolly party to enable her guests to renew old acquaintances in Motu. A very happy evening was spent with .lancing. games and community singing, suitable music being played by Miss U. Reed and Messrs. J. Peddle and S. Davis. A dainty supper was served by the hostess, who was assisted by her daughter, Miss Pam. Read. Mrs. Lovell, Tauranga, is the guest of her daughter Mrs. J. Donaldson, Motu—Misses B. Hutchins and C. Ross, Gisborne, were visitors of the former’s parents in Motu last weekend. —Mrs. Williams and Mrs. J. C. Stewart, Gisborne, and Mr. and Mrs. K. Judge, Tolaga Bay, were the guests of Mrs. A. Clarke, Motuhora, last week-end.
