TERRITORIAL BALLOT 77 FROM GISBORNE WAIROA-COAST QUOTA 32 Of an aggregate of 4431 men called up in the latest ballot for Territorial service, the Gisborne-Wairoa-East Coast sub-area contributes 109. The ballot is one of the smallest taken to date to cover the Territorial or overseas requirements of man-power, and No. 7 area, comprising Hawke’s Bay, part of the Wairarapa, and the East Coast sub-area, is represented by 384 names, as compared with Dunedin’s 376, Wellington’s 459, Christchurch’s 629, and Auckland’s 644. The men called in the ballot are classed B 1 and C„ in the First Division of the General Reserve, and the list includes the names of a number of men who have volunteered for overseas service, and also of some men already serving in the homedefence units.
