BRITISH PLANE 22 OCCUPANTS KILLED MR. PURVIS A VICTIM (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reccl. Aug. 16. 10.20 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 15. An Air Ministry communique says: “An aircraft of the Atlantic Command crashed on Thursday evening while taking off. The passengers and crew, totalling 22, were killed. The passengers included Mr. Arthur Purvis, chairman of the British Supply Council in North America. It is learned that Parliamentary Secretary to the Air Ministry, Captain H. H. Balfour, accompanied by the Air Ministry’s chief inspector for accidents, \yere flown to the aerodrome on which the accident occurred for a personal investigation on behalf of the Air Minister, Sir Archibald Sinclair.
