COSMOPOLITAN CLUB
ORCHESTRAL CONCERT The Cosmopolitan Club’s social hall was filled on Wednesday evening, when members and their friends were entertained at an orchestral concert, the second of the season. The popularity of the entertainments was mentioned by the president, Mr. J. JMacdonald, when welcoming the guests, stating that even with adverse' weather the attendance was an improvement on the previous occasion. Under the baton of Mr. J'. S. Rutherford, the orchestra rendered a varied programme of music, commencing with the rousing march, “Vanished Army" and followed by two numbers from the “Nell Gwynne” suite, a waltz medley, “Welsh Savoy,” and the selection “Student Prince.” Supporting artists were ‘all accorded well-meritecl applause, those contributing items being:—Miss B. contralto, “Homing,” “Come Sing to Me" and “Coming Home"; Miss O. Chambers, soprano, “Slave Song” and “I Wonder if Love is a Dream”; Miss B. Coote, “Spanish Dance” and “Bells Across the Meadow”; Mr. T. Blain baritone, “On the Road to Mandalay and "For England”; Mr. Denis Goldsmith, “O Star of Eve” and “Chorus, Gentlemen!”; Mr. Gordon Poole, novelty item, “All Through the Night”; Mr. Leslie Ryan, national dances; Mr. T. McDermott, comedy items; Messrs. O. Pritchard and J. Lyle, humorous sketch. Mr. S. Lewis was the official accompanist. During the interval, a dainty supper was served by the club.
