GERMAN PRISON CAMPS
To assist next-of-kin who may have been puzzled over the interpretation of addresses of members of New Zealand forces in German prisoner of war camps a translation of the chief terms is provided in a bulletin prepared by the Joint Council of the Order of St. John and the New Zealand Red Cross Society. “Oflag” is a permanent camp for officers, and “Stalag” is a permanetn camp for non-commissioned officers .and privates. “Dulag” is a transit camp and ‘Stalag" is a permanent camp for airmen, “Stalag luft” covers camps for airmen of all ranks.
