DEATH OF EX-SOLDIER (Pec Press Association.) » WANGANUI, this day. The body of Mr. James C. Brownie,' College street, who has been missing since Monday, was recovered from the Wanganui River yesterday near the town bridge. Marks on the face and skull indicate that he met with an l accident. He served in the Great War. with Iceland poppies, berries and bulbs, and in the dining-room, where a delicious afternoon tea was served, similar blooms were used with artistic effect. The prize for the highest score was won by Mrs. P. A. Clarke, and Mrs. L. A. Steed was rewarded for securing the “lucky” chair. The hostess chose a frock of deep rose cloque cut on simple lines. Among the guests were Mesdames R. Samson. P. A. Clarke, J. Peach, W. T. Sturrock, W. Keith, H. D. Humphrey, F. Matthewson, J. Johnson, L. F. Sarten, L. A. Steed, R. Jenkins, McDermott, D. McKeague, W. G. Alexander, Olliver, A. F. Salmon, W. J. Lee, W. Carruthers, and Miss Jackson.
