ATTACKS ON MALTA
NAZI RAIDERS REPULSED (British Official Wireless ) Reed. 2.30 p.m. RUGBY, June 3. It is reported from Malta that enemy aircraft which approached the island on Monday night were caught by searchlights and repulsed by antiaircraft guns.
Two raids were attempted on Tuesday afternoon. The first was repulsed by defence batteries and during the second British fighters shot down into the sea a Junkers 52.
During May, 21 civilians were killed by enemy action. \
