VISIT TO THAMES

MINISTER OF EDUCATION (Per Prcsß Association.) THAMES, this day. The Minister of Education, the Hon. H. G. R. Mason, yesterday visited Thames accompanied by Mrs. Mason and Mr.’ Jas. Thorn, M.P. The visitors were welcomed at the High School by the borough commissioner, the Mayor, tlie town clerk, the school board of governors, and the headmaster. Tlie Minister was shown a plan for ait arts and crafts room and library, and shown how newly-recalled grants to Waiorongomai settlers in 1900-14 would finance the scheme. The Minister said it was not finance but the timber and man-power shortage that were the major factors under war conditions, and was completely non-committal in his reply.
