ERECTION OF CHURCH
No reply has yet been received from .he Government to the application by he Roman Catholic authorities for permission to make a start with the building of the new city church, St. Mary's. Christchurch. Before any building to cost more than £2OOO can be begun, authority must be given by the Government under the war emergency- regulations for the use of the steel.
The foundation stone of the new church was laid some months ago. The ouilding will cost more than £30.000, and Government permission to begin the job was first sought about three months ago.
