LOSS OF REVENUE
DISRUPTION OF SPORT
EFFECT ON EMPLOYMENT
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day.
Mr. J. E. August, president of the Wellington Trotting Club, did not agree with Mr. A. S. Elworthy, chairman of the Canterbury Jockey Clun, on the question of the curtailment o' racing. He said that to cut ciown racing would not make things any better for the men overseas. Racing brought m a large revenue that would haye to be found in some other way. If racing were disrupted, hundreds would be thrown out of work and the Government would have to tax others to find the revenue that would be lost.
