SENTENCE ON CLERIC (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. , Basil Cairns Dowling, aged 31, a minister. of religion, was sentenced to three months’ gaol in the Police Court yesterday when he pleaded guilty to wilfully obstructing Superintendent Lopdell at a pacifist meeting in Manners street on Friday night.

Dowling said that he must make his witness even though the law forbade it.

In this case, said the magistrate, the law must take its course.
