CRETE EVACUATION

N.Z. STATEMENT LIKELY PREMIER’S TALKS IN CAIRO (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The acting-Prime Minister, the Hon. W. Nash, announced to-day that for the time being the news concerning the evacuation from Crete would be confined to the terms of the communique issued by the British Government.

He hoped, however, to make a statement upon the receipt of further information from the Prime Minister, the Rt. lion. P. Fraser, who had had long discussions with Major-General B. C. Frey berg and other members of the New Zealand force who had been successfully evacuated.
