Sir Ernest said the amount of outward cargo had fallen off, but an increase in inward cargo, principally butter and cheese, biought the total tonnage carried to within 3740 tons of last year's figures. Operating costs had increased materially. The weekly wages averaged £2300. Ollieers and seamen were paid a war risk bonus.
