BUSINESS RESTRICTIONS With the normal street lighting with vapour lights, the glare from Whangarei could be seen 49 miles at sea, and with street lights now reduced from 4000 candle-power to 32 and 50 candle-power the glare is still visible for 30 miles, said the lighting controller, Mr. W. J. Dawson, at .i meeting of Whangarei business men. . The meeting agreed to apply the regulation immediately so far as they affected business premises. It is hoped that soon the lighting of shop windows and premises will have been reduced to the reo_uirements, which fix the maximum power for lights at 50 candle-power.
