Rural Housing Loan

“Eleven applications totalling £8655 were received from farmers and granted for loans to erect farm dwellings under the provisions of the Rural Housing Act; leaving a balance of £1345 still available,” said the chairman of the Wairoa County Council, Mr. A. T. Carroll, in his report on t’qe administration of county affairs during the past year given at the annual meeting yesterday. The chairman said that all applications so far dealt with had carried a building subsidy of 10 per cent of the cost, but future applications would not carry the subsidy, which had been withdrawn by the Government.
