CHAIRMAN RE-ELECTED

WAIROA COUNTY COUNCIL COMMITTEES APPOINTED (Spui/nt to the Herald.) WAIROA. this day. A statement that there was a lot to do, but, in his opinion, the council should make the adjustments gradually sc that the burden would not be too great on the ratepayers, was made by Mr. A. T. Carroll when thanking councillors for re-electing him chairman of the Wairoa County Council for a further term at the annual meeting yesterday. The chairman said that anything he could do \yith the co-operation of the councillors to maintain and hold the healthy position of the council, he would do. Providing they, watched the financial position, paid careful attention to details, and looked after Ihe requirements of the ratepayers, then he was sure the council would do justice to its ratepayers.

The following committees were elected:—

General Purposes Committee. —The chairman, and Messrs. D. H. Robertson, S. A. Dickie. 11. Bayly. and J. O'Grady. Finance Committee.—The chairman, and two councillors in rotation for a period of two months until they have rill served on the committee.
