OWNERSHIP INQUIRY

CIRCULAR NOTE CASE CHARGE DISMISSED (Per PreRH Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The ownership of the horse Circular Mote between May 3, 1940, and March 20, 1941, during which period he raced with success in both the North Island and South Island, was investigated, yesterday by the Canterbury district committee of- the New Zealand Racing Conference. Major D. E. Wanklyn presided. After hearing the evidence and also hearing Mr. A. B. Sievwright, of Wellington, who appeared on behalf of Mrs. J. A. Thornton, the committee resolved that no evidence was brought before it to show that any person other than the registered owner, Mrs. Thornton, had any interest in the horse during the period. The committee also dismissed a charge against Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Thornton of failing to give information. The charge was laid under Rule 338 (1.G.), of the rules of racing.
