BRITISH SHIP SUNK

SURVIVORS PICKED UP 40 OTHERS ADRIFT (Reccl. May 28, 2.40 p.m.) WASHINGTON, May 27. The Coast Guard rescued 39 survivors of the British steamer Marconi, of 4702 tons, 270 miles south-east of Greenland. It is believed that forty other members of the crew are drifting in two lifeboats in heavy fog. The Coast Guard are still searching. They said the Marconi was torpedoed yesterday.
