AMERICAN CONVOYS
SHIPMENTS OF ARMS, BELIEF IN IMMINENCE LEADERS OF CONGRESS (Reed. May 6, 2.50 p.m.) WASHINGTON, May 5. Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives Naval Affairs Committee on the bill to empower President Roosevelt to requisition idle foreign ships, in American harbours, the chairman, Mr. C. A. Vinson, said he favoured the convoying of American arms shipments to Britain now.
Mr. Cox said: “Of course we are going to convoy and convoy right away. We have voted billions in credits for Britain and promised to support to the limit of our limit and our capacity.”
