FLYING TO AMERICA

AUSTRALIAN PREMIER ARRIVAL AT LISBON (Reed. May 6, 10 a.m.) LONDON, May 5. The Prime Minister of Australia, Mr. R\ G. Menzies, left London for America on Friday. He arrived at Lisbon in a Dutch air liner piloted by Captain Parmentier. Mr. Menzies was escorted part of the way by the Royal Air Force Coastal Command. Upon alighting at Lisbon he rubbed shoulders with the German crew of a four-motored Junkers transport, who eyed him curiously. Italian machines were also on the aerodrome, which is the only one in Europe where the belligerents regularly meet.
