TREND IN RUSSIA

GROWING REALISATION MENACE OF GERMANY MR. HULL SUPPORTED (Reed. April 10, 10 a.m.) WASHINGTON. April !). The British Ambassador to the United States. Viscount Halifax, at a press conference, endorsed the statement made by the United States Secretary of State, Mr. Cordell Hull, that Russia is becoming aware of the danger from Germany. Lord Halifax added that he thought Mr. Hull had phrased the position rather aptly. The New York Times comments that Mr. Hull and Lord Halifax “apparently are attempting tu bolster Russia’s courage to the point where She may oppose Germany." It was reported yesterday that Mr. Cordell Hull, at a press conference, described the Russian-Yugoslav pact as an encouraging indication of the increasing number of nations acutely aware of the nature of the movement to conquer peoples by force. The New York Times and other commentators stated that Mr. Hull thereby intended to indicate the belief that the Russian policy was changing as a result of the German threat in ihc Balkans.
