Muriwai Patriotic Knitting Circle
Despite absences from the district, there was a good attendance at yesterday’s meeting of the Muriwai Knitting Circle at the residence of Mrs. C. J. Cox, and much useful work was completed. Members expressed their sincere regret at the serious illness ot tlie chairman, Mrs. F. Faulkner, and the necessity for her prolonged absence. Mrs. C. H. Williams was elected as temporary chairman of the ladies’ committee and knitting circle Arrangements were made for the Muriwai ladles to take over the Gisborne patriotic shop for a week next month. Helpers Were enrolled to take a share in the work, and others are being sought from the district Yesterday's activities included the knitting of various articles, the making of children’s warm underclothing, skirts and jumpers, and the cutting out and making up of warm “siren’ suits. Each member took away Irani the meeting an amount of “home work” to be completed by the date of the next fortnightly meeting, which will be held at Mrs. R. K. Murphy's residence. Among those present, were Mesdames R. K. Murphy, C. 11. Williams, C. J. Cox, J. F. Mills, and RI W. Coop; Misses Nancy Bowen. Monica [ Mufphy, and Margaret Hughes.—Special.
