TWO RAIDERS DOWN

WARSHIPS’ GUNFIRE (Elec, Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 1.30 p.m. RUGBY. April 9. An Admiralty communique announced this evening that two German aircraft had been shot down to-day by the guns of His Majesty’s ships. One Messerchmitt 110 was shot, down by the destroyer Valorous and the other, a Heikel ill by the combined fire of the destroyer Avon Vale and the trawler Kingston Beryl. No casualties or damage were sustained by any of His Majesty’s ships in these encounters.
