FEW ON COAST TOWN STAVANGER ’DROME HIT R.A.F. BOMBER'S ATTACK (British Official \Virniesn.) Uccd. 2.15 p.m. RUGBY. April 3. A communique issued by Ihe Air Mini.-try and Ministry of Home Security states: "A few bombs were dropped on the const of East Anglia about midday on Tuesday, but they caused little damage. No casualties are reported. "An enemy fighter was shot down into the Channel, otherwise there is nothing to report. "A Coastal Command Blenheim pilot, on patrol at Stavanger last night, made a successful low-level attack t.n the Form aerodrome. The mean outlined the building's clearly as the pilot skimmed the roof-tops at 150 miles an hour and released his bombs in a. stick, while his machine-guns were also firing. The bombs fell directly oil a hangar and between other buildings, and intense anti-aircraft fire followed the pilot as he flew off. One troublesome searchlight was put out by the observer's gun.'' A German communique states:— “Several hundred bombers last night effectively bombed two ports with extensive loading installations on the Clydeside, near Glasgow. Other objectives included Bristol, Liverpool. Harwich and an important aircraft and armaments factory in central England."
