GUARDS ON THE RANGE EASTER MONDAY PARADE N.C.O'S IN TRAINING Non-commissioned officers in training with the Gisborne Borough Battalion of the Home Guard will have their first range practice on Monday, when practices will be tired on tne Mangapapa range. This parade will be the "highlight of the Easter fixtures for the battalion, and will be the forerunner of shoots for the other ranks as they reach a stage of training qualifying them for range practice.

Precautions against accidents on the range are fully provided for in range discipline, and" N.C.Os who intend to _ take part in the Monday shoot will *

receive special instruction on Saturday afternoon in these precautions. The Saturday parade will be in effect a dress rehearsal for Monday's visit to the range, and the necessity for absolute compliance with range discipline will be emphasised by the instructors.

These fixtures are merely a part, however, of the Borough ihattauon’s training schedule for the week. Tonight several units will be on jJaraae for indoor instruction, and on Saturday morning two companies will hold outdoor musters. Fixtures For All Guard Units Parades for the ensuing week, inducting me easier period, have Deen scheduled oy the battalion commander as under: —

Wednesday, April 9, at 7.30 p.m.— Medical section, Headquarters Company, at Gisborne Central School; signallers' section, Headquarters Company, at High School; Engineers' Company at Intermediate Scnool; C Company at Allen Bros, and Johnstone s garage; bowser section, Transport Company, at Gisborne Garage.

Saturday, April 12. —E Company and Transport Company, at Childers Road Reserve, at 9 a.m.; battalion N.C.Os at Childers Road Reserve, at 2 p.m.

Monday, April 14. —Battalion N.C.Os at Childers Road Reserve at 9 a.m., with lunches and mugs, prepared for all-day parade at Mangapapa range.

Wednesday, April 16.—Medical section, Headquarters Company, at Gisborne Central School; signallers’ section, Headquarters Company, at High School; A Company, at Ormonds’ Motors, Bright street; B Company, at Fire Station; bowser platoon. Transport Company, at Gisborne Garage;' C Company, at Alien Bros, and Johnstone’s garage; Engineers' Company, at Intermediate School; all parades at 7.30 p.m.

Saturday. April 19. —E Company, at Childers Road Reserve, at 2 p.m.

Sunday, April 20. —A Company, Intermediate School, at 9 a.m.; B Company, Kaiti School, at 9 a.m.; D Company, Childers Road Reserve, at 8 a.m.; Headquarters Company (medical, signallers, motor-cycles), Childers Road Reserve, at 9 a.m.; Transport Company. Childers Road Reserve, at 9 a.m.

In the event of wet weather. Headquarters Company will transfer its outdoor parades to the High School, and the Transport Company will use the Gisborne Garage premises. Instructors detailed for special duties this week are Staff-Sergeant T. Morgan,’detailed "to E Company for rifle instruction on Saturday morning, and Mr. H. Le Bas, detailed to Transport Company for physical-train-ing, also on Saturday morning. The. orderly officer* for the week to April 14, inclusive, is Mr. M. R. Fry.
