EASING IN VALUES SHEEP PRICES IMPROVE SHARP RISE IN BACONERS (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Competition was steady for an average entry of ox beef at the Westfield stock sale yesterday, but last week's fairly high values were not maintained. The usual numbers of cows and heifers were yarded and sold under a good demand at rates on a par with late quotations. Extra choice ox made to 38s per 1001 b., choice and prime 34s to 375, secondary and plain 31s to 335; extra prime young cow and heifer 29s to 335, choice and prime 26s to 28s, ordinary cow beef 21s to 255.

Extra heavy prime steers made £l4 to £l4 15s, heavy prime £l3 to £l3 15s, lighter £l2 to £l2 17s 6d, light £los 15s to £ll 10s, small and unfinished £8 to £10; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers .£9 to £lO 15s, heavy prime £7 10s to £8 10s, lighter £6 10s to £7; other killable cows £5 to £6.

Only a small entry of sheep was offered and rates improved. Extra heavy prime wethers made 29s Ocl to 30s 9d, heavy 28s to 295, medium 27s to 27s 6d, light 25s 6d to 26s Od, plain and unfinished 21s 6d to 245; extra heavy prime young and maiden ewes, 18s to 19s 9d, heavy prime 16s Od to 17s 6d, lighter 15s to 16s, plain and aged 13s to 14s 6d, others 4s 6d to Us 6d. Competition was good for an aver age entry of lambs, and a firm sale resulted. Extra heavy prime lambs made 27s to 29s 3d, heavy 25s to 265, medium 22s Od to 245, lighter 20s to 21s, light 17s to 19s, small and plain 13s to 15s, culls 5s to 12s 6d.

Prices for an extra large yarding of calves of good quality were decidedly lower. Competition was not keen. Runners made £4 to £6 17s 6d, heavy vealers £4 10s to £5 Bs, medium £3 10s to £4 ss, light £2 15s to £3 ss, small 16s to £2 Bs, unfinished and bucket-fed £1 to £1 ss, bobby 4s to 10s.

A sharp rise occurred in values for all prime medium baconers and-good quality porkers in a very small yarding of pigs. There was no improvement in price of over-weight baconers or light and unfinished porkers. Choppers mad: £1 5s to £2 10s, heavy baconers £3 12s to £4 6s, overweight £2 8s to £3, medium £3 to £3 ss, light £2 15s to £2 18s; heavy porkers £2 10s to £2 13s, medium £2 2s to £2 4s light £1 12s to £1 17s, small and unfinished £1 Is to £1 10s, stores 14s to 16s, slips 8s to 10s, weaners 5s to Bs. _______
