Last Night’s Forecast General Situation—A cyclonic depression moving south-eastward G located to the north-east of Auckland Pressure is very low to the south-east of New Zealand and high over Tasmania. Forecast. —Winds fresh to strong southerly to westerly, reaching gale force in exposed positions. .Seas in New Zealand waters .moderate inshore north of East Cape and south of Farewell Spit, elsewhere rough to very rough. In the eastern Tasman Sea strong south-westerly winds to gales and rough seas. Weather mainly tapon the west coast of the South Island, elsewhere cold and changeable, with passing showers. To-day's North Island Report Overcast conditions, with passing showers, were reported sit Auckland this morning, but elsewhere there was blue sky with some cloud. The barometer was rising and winds were moderate. Temperatures at 9 a.m. were, low, the highest being Tauranga and Napier with 58 degrees, followed by Auckland. 57: Gisborne, 56: East Cape. 55; Wellington.. 54; Opotiki. 51. Reas were rough at Tauranga and Wellington, but slight elsewhere. Midday Forecast General Situation.—An intense anticyclone centred over Tasmania extends across the Tasman Sen on to New Zealand. Forecast —Moderate to strong winds, between, north-west . and south-west; some showers in and about the Runtimes. but weather otherwise fair. Temperatures: Cool, with frosts tonight. in sheltered positions; considerable southerly swell.
