FAST BATTLE CRUISERS

NEW AMERICAN CRAFT HEAVILY-ARMED VESSELS (Reed. March 17, 2.15 p.m.) WASHINGTON, March 16. The naval supply bill for 1942 contains provisions for a new type of battle cruisers which are reputed to be for dealing with commerce raiders or making coastal raids. The vessels will cost £10,750,000 each and it Is believed will mount Min. guns and possess a speed of 32 knots an hour. The warships will lack heavy armour. Contracts have already been placed.
