f f : , [dance for children (Herald Correspondent.) iA jolly and successful evening was h'eld in the Te.Puka Hall, Tokomaru Bay, -recently by the Tokomaru Bay Patriotic Sopiety. -The first part of the t.o§k 'the forrn of a children’s fancy dregs dancp, and the latter part a welcome home dance to soldiers on leave. •The .children had a wonderful time, ahd the costum,es were many and Varied. __ Several items, which were much enjoyed, were given by the pupils of tjie native and public schools. After supper Mr. A. N. Wilkins, for the ; R;S.A. ; arid those present, and Mr. Wi Clark, for the Maori people, wished the soldiers all the best of luck. Mrs. J, Li Grant, secretary of the patriotic society, presented each of the soldiers w s ith a cheque, a pair of khaki socks, arid a hussif. Private H. Beale suitably responded. The Wi Hapi orchestra sunolied the dince . music, while Mrs. Elliot, Mrs. Britton and Miss M. King played for fHe children’s items. Mr. M. Forrester was an efficient M.C. -Prior to her departure for Auckland, Mrs, D. Powell was the guest of honour at a very enjoyable bridge evening held at the home of Mrs. J. L. Grrint. Bridge winners’for the evening were Mesdames E.
