Military Wedding

Willock—Miles A wedding of interest to a wide circle of friends in the Gisborne district was solemnised quietly in St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral, Wellington, last Saturday afternoon, when Lois Ethel only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. Miles, Iranui road, Gisborne was married to Private William Patrick Willock, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. B. Willock, Heta road, GLsborne. Canon D. J. Davies performed the ceremony. With her ensemble of duck-egg blue cloque, showing a finger-length coat and pleated skirt, the bride, who carried an ivory prayer book, wore a duck-egg blue turban caught with a bow at the back. The bride was attended by Miss Patricia Steele, wearing a dusky pink frock accented with a shoulder spray of flowers to tone, and a small dusky pink hat. Second Lieutenant P. R. Willock, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s grand-parents Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Miles, Hobson street. All-Day Party On Wednesday Mrs. W. D. Morley entertained .a number of friends at an all-day party at her home in deLautour road. The weather was kind, and the tennis court was the centre of attraction. Both luncheon and afternoon tea were served in the dining-room, marigolds giving a note of colour to the table. Among the guests were Mesdames A. G. Cairns, A. W. Harper, S. R. Massam, K. A. Woodward, G. Langhorne, W. J. Langlands, L. C. Parker, J. O. Musgrave, A. M. Welham, R. Fitzgerald, F. A. McFadyen, S. Last-minute alterations were mftde by the hostess to entertain her guests at bridge and mah-jong, and all spent a jolly time indoors. The drawingroom looked attractive with its decorations of bowls of mixed flowers and hydrangeas, which were an effective background for the bridge tables. When an adjournment was made to the "dining-room, which was gay with bowls of yellow and gold flowers, opportunity was taken to tender good wishes to the guest of honour. A dainty tea was served. Mrs. R. Scott, who welcomed her daughter’s guests, wore a becoming frock of navy crepe-de-chipe printed in rose tones. Miss Josephine Scott chose a silk jerseylaine model striped horizontally in green and gold. Miss Bunny Dowding’s frock was in a pretty shade of blue accented with white collar and cuffs. Among the guests were Mesdames C. C. Dowding, W. Robson, C. G. Holdsworth, G. R. Bloomfield, J. G. Appleton, E. Cranswick, R. F. Hutchinson, B. R. Fitzgerald and R. D. Dymock; Misses V.
