Flying-Officer S. W. R. Hughes, who is serving with the Royal Air Force in Africa, has been promoted to flightlieutenant. He is the son of Captain and Mrs, H. R. Hughes, of Auckland.
Mr. D. C. Kidd, M.P. for Waitaki, who was recently readmitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital from the Rhodes Convalescent Home, is making satisfactory progress toward recovery.
Sister Merle Farlaud, who is on the staff of the Helena Goldie Hospital at Veils La Vella, Solomon Islands, which is controlled by the foreign mission department of the Methodist Church of New Zealand, is expected at Gisborne on furlough on Friday. She will stay with her mother, Mrs. E. H. Marriner, Derby street.
