As a protest against the employment of nine non-union labourers, watersicleri'at Timaru ceased work on three coastal vessels for an hour last evening. The protest was due particularly to the general scarcity of work at Timaru owipg to the yvaf conditions. All union men were engaged yesterday, but they considered unfair the employment of non-unionists. After a,conference with the shipping companies, the' jygtersiders resumed work, the non-unionists also continuing.
