VICTIMS OF BLITZ

BRITISH COAST TOWN FORTITUDE OF HOMELESS RESCUE OF SURVIVORS BURIED UNDER RUBBLE (Kloc. Tol. Copyright —United Press' Assn.) ' (Reed. Feb. 25, 2.25 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 24. Rescuers in a north-east coast town, which was bombed last night, worked throughout the night to find an 18-months-old baby whose mother and two other women were killed. A faint cry was heard at daybreak, 10 hours after the bombing and the baby was found in its cot among the wreckage. The baby was slightly injured and was admitted to the hospital. Another mother with her year-old baby was killed when a terrace of houses were hit. The bodies of a man and a women were recovered this morning. The woman was dug out after being buried by rubble up to her neck. A boy of 14 was so pinned down that it took four hours to rescue him. A man, his wife and a baby were brought out and taken to hospital. The homeless showed the greatest fortitude. They were taken to rest rooms where they were visited by the Lord Mayor and Lord Mayoress. Seventy persons were in a home counties inn which is mentioned in Dickens’ novels, which was damaged last night. There were no casualties. An incendiary bomb set fire to a building in the London area resulting in the destruction of 20,000 orchestral score sheets. A German communique says: “Bombers last night attacked Hull and b6mbed aircraft works in the south oi England and also docks and armament works in London. Isolated enemy attacks on occupied territory resulted in a number of persons being killed and others wounded. Insignificant damage was done.”
