Dr. lan Fraser, a graduate of tire Otago University, who was practising at Guernsey up to the time the island was taken by the Germans, is now a major in the Royal Army Medical Corps. Mr. Justice Johnston, who will preside at the quarterly session of the Supreme Court in Gisborne this week; arrived on Saturday afternoon. The session will commence to-morrow morning. Mr. G. H. Stubbs, of the inspectorial staff of the Wellington Education Board, has been appointed senior inspector of native schools. Mr. W. O’Connor, native schools inspector, has been appointed to the vacancy. The latest issue of the New Zealand Gazette has a notice of confirmation of appointments to commissions made by the General Officer Commanding, ‘-acond New Zealand Expeditionary Force. Included in the list of those granted first appointments are Regimental Sergeant-Major Harold 3. Heiford, formerly of Gisborne. He receives the rank of second-lieutenant.
