MATAWAI NEWS

(Herald Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Matawai branch of the Red Cross was held in the Women’s Institute room on Saturday afternoon, Miss Mortleman presiding. Other members present were Mesdames G. F. Mortleman, G. Tucker, A. Grant, H. Bulst, R. M. Bilham, H. O. Rowley, J. W. Smith, N. L. Thomas, W. T. Calcott, and Miss Davenport. Parcels were received from Mesdames W. Hope, H. E. Burgess,' J. K. Briant, and H. V. Wiliam Members continued wool-winding, knitting and cutting-out more garments, which were distributed to willing helpers. Two car loads of women institute members, including Mesdames J. Bell, F. Sinton, E. Jud,d and McPike, Koranga, Mesdames J. Thompson, C. G. Fielder, C. V. Smith and A. E. Gibson, Matawai, journeyed to Motu to attend Hre group picnic.
