INTRUDER IN ROOMS
SOLDIER WITH GRIEVANCE QUEEN’S AID SOUGHT MAN’S STORY HEARD, (Reed. Feb. 22, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON. Feb. 21. ■ The Daily Mail relates an astonishing incident in which the Queen suddenly found herself confronted in her private apartments by a man suffering from a grievance who had obtained a job in the Royal Household and quickly familiarised himself with the Queen’s apartments where he entered one evening. “What are you doing here?" tin Queen asked the man who then told his story. The Queen listened calmly for 10 minutes although she could easily have summonded aid. Her Majesty promised to have the man's case examined. Steps have since been taken t make a repetition of the incident i.r. possible. Later a young soldier told the Daih Mirror that he wanted the Queen to help him to join the Auxiliary Fire Service. After deserting and starving for some weeks he went to a labour exchange in the district where Their Majesties live and got a job as a fitter’s mate in the Royal Household. He found out where the Queen’s rooms were, made up his mind to see her, strolled boldly to her room and knocked. The man is now facing trial on a charge of desertion.
