DROWNED IN RIVER

MAN THROWN BY HORSE (Por Press Association.) WHANGAREI, this day. Mr. George Beatty, aged 21, was drowned when trying to swim a horse across the Mangakahia River yesterday. The horse, which was only partly broken in, began playing up and threw Mr. Beatty, w.ho evidently was struck on the head. The deceased, a fine stamp of a young man, 6ft tall and weighing 13.0. had been accepted for the Air Force.
