THE WEATHER Last Night's Forecast General Situation. —An anticyclone covers New Zealand, but pressure is falling again in the south with the advance of a westerly depression across the south Tasrnan Sea. Forecast.—Winds moderate and variable in the north and moderate but freshening northerly to westerly winds prevailing from Cook Strait southward; seas slight or moderate generally at first, but later rising about Cook Strait and south of Westport. In the eastern Tasman Sea light and variable winds; slight seas in the northern portion, moderate but freshening north-westerly winds and gradually rising seas in the southern portion. Weather for the most part fair to fine, scattered rain developing 10-morrovv however in the southwestern and the far southern areas of the South Island. Temperatures mild to warm.
