INNINGS DEFEAT
OTAGO GOES UNDER IMPROVED BATTING KNIGHT MAKES 152 CANTERBURY’S VICTORY (Por Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. Defeat by an innings and 18 runs was the fate of Otago in the return cricket match with Canterbury which finished at Carisbrook early yesterday afternoon. The fact that the defeat was not considerably heavier was due to the much improved display of batting by some Otago players. They started in the morning after having scored 187 and 118 for six wickets in reply to Canterbury’s total of 507 for six wickets declared and Knight. Chettleburgh and J. D. Blakely batted so much more confidently that there were grounds for hope for some time that the visitors would have to bat again. ’ The Knight-Chettleburgh partnership added 129 runs.
