An almost stationary anticyclone is centred east of New Zealand. A trough of low pressure lies along the New South Wales coast and a tropical cyclone is developing near Lord Howe Island. Forecast: Winds, north-easterly predominating and becoming strong over Auckland Peninsula, elsewhere continuing moderate to fresh. Sens: In New Zealand waters rough north of East Cape, elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Northeasterly winds becoming strong in the northern portion with seas rising to rough, otherwise moderate with moderate seas. Weather: Cloudy over Auckland Peninsula with scattered vain or drizzle developing from the north during the week-end, elsewhere continuing fair to fine. Temperatures: Warm.
To-day’s North Island Report
Overcast and cloudy -conditions prevailed at most North Island stations this morning, with the exception of Gisborne where there was blue sky with some cloud. Winds were slight and mainly from a north easterly direction. The barometer was high but 9 a.m. temperatures were low, the highest being Gisborne with 88 degrees, followed by Auckland and Wellington with 67, Tauranga with 86. Seas were slight to moderate. Yesterflay’S Midday Foreeast Situation.-- : An intense anticyclone is centred east of New Zealand while a cyclonic disturbance- continues to. develop in the central Tasman Sea. Forecast.—Fresh north - easterly winds. Weather fair and warm, but some drizzle developing to-morrow in the high country. Seas moderate.
