NEW OFFICERS ARRIVE CAPTAIN AND MRS READ With a wide and varied experience ar. Salvationists. Captain and Mrs. H. Manse Read have been appointed to take charge of Salvation Army work in Gisborne arc are confident that they will have a very happy term in this district Working jn various districts in both islands of the Dominion, the captain and his wife have given spiritual advice to many people, and as .the organisation to which they belong is spoken of as "the army of the helping hand,” they are anxious to continue this work in Gisborne. Both the Captain and Mrs. Read are interested in youth, and young men and women will find them someone in whom they can confide.
During their two and a half years on the West Coast a children’s radio session was conducted from station 3ZR by Captain and Mrs. Read, who were known as Uncle Arthur and Aunt Joan. In this way they made many friends among the timbermilling community of that district. Interesting stories of this district will be told by the captain as opportunity offers.
Captain and Mrs. Read will preach at the Sunday meetings in the Salvation Army Citadel.
