MANCHESTER UNITY
LOYAL GISBORNE LODGE GRAND MASTER’S VISIT The fortnightly meeting of the Manchester Unity, Oddfellows Loyal Gisborne Lodge, 6087. was held last night, Miss A. J. Elliott, N.G., presiding. Owing to the meeting being held during the holiday period, the attendance was not large. Advice was received from the Auckland district grand master, Mr. C. A. Ryder, that he intended visiting the Gisborne lodge on January 27 in the course of a tour of lodges in the Bay of Plenty and Rotorua districts. The meeting asked the social committee to make suitable arrangements for the visit.
Two lodge members now living elsewhere were welcomed to the meeting. They were Miss D. A. Cook, P.G., Wellington, and Mr. C. H. Smythe, P.G.. Petone, both of whom were on holiday in Gisborne.
The sick visitors’ report was not long, and sick payments were the smallest for some months.
Supper was served after the closing ode had been played by Mrs. R. W. Wallen, and later members played indoor bowls.
