CLASHES IN NORWAY

QUISLINGITES MOBBED FREE FIGHTS IN OSLO MANY PERSONS INJURED (Eluc. Tel. Copyright —United Press Assn.) (Reed. Dec. 23, 9 a.m.) LONDON. Dec. 21. The Norwegian news agency states that many clashes between the civil population and the supporters of Major Quisling, head of the Norwegian puppet Government, have occurred during the last few days in the Oslo district. Fighting broke out at the Normarken sports ground, from which the Quisling supporters retreated to a restaurant and called up the police, who 'were powerless against a crowd of 1000 loyalists singing the National Anthem and the Royal Anthem.

A battle in the streets of the capital followed an attempt by Quisling supporters to tear a badge from a loyalist Norwegian. The Nazis were called up and a fierce fight ensued. Several persons were injured and a number qf arrests were made.

A fresh light later resulted in many being seriously injured. The police quelled other incidents at a cinema and the national theatre.

A Stockholm report says that Herr Terbovcn, the German commissioner, is going to Berlin to discuss overcoming Norwegian opposition with or without the aid of Major Quisling’s supporters.

Norwegian farmers collectively have refused their adherence to the Quisling Government and the Quisling supporters are forming their own farmers’ organisation.
