DANCE FOR SOLDIERS

TOLAGA BAY FUNCTION (Humid Correspondent.) A dance and presentation to soldiers on leave took place in Tolaga Bay recently, the guests of honour being Lieutenant Jackman and Private Jackman, sons of Mr. and Mrs. A- H. Jackman. Arakihi station, Private Grey and Private W. Thompson, the last-mentioned being the fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Thompson to enlist. On behalf cl' the Maori committee, Mr. F. W. Shelton handed each soldier an envelope, and Mr. J. McNeil, chairman of the Unwn County Council, handed each a gift from the entertainment committee and Women’s Patriotic Committee. Mr. O. G. James, secretary of the Tolaga Bay Dog Trial Club, presented Private Grey, an active member of the dub. with a cheque. Lieutenant Jackman replied on behalf of lhe guests. A delicious supper was served by the ladies' commit!ee. Music was supplied by Mrs. B. Lincoln and extras by Misses Joyce Morris and B. Grey. A tap dance by Private Thompson was much enjoyed.
