HOMING PIGEONS
RACE FROM TAKAPAU WIN FOR J. MCLEAN The Poverty Bay Central Homing Pigeon Society conducted a three-clock-two race from Takapau, an airline distance of 133 miles, at the week-end. Weather conditions were ideal, and excellent times w&re recorded. The winner was J. McLean’s team, with a flying time of 3hr. 23min. and a Velocity tit 115Ci.3jds per minute. Detailed results were: J. McLean’s team, 1156.3yds per min., 1; R.' Somervell's team, 1153.6yd5, 2; IVf. ROyd’s team, 1149.1yd5, 3; R. Hall’s team. 1146.7yd5, 4; T. Crosby’s team, 1145.8yd5, 5; D. McLean’s team, 1140.2yd5, 6; J. O’Gorman’s team, 1139.5yd5, 7: C. Waldock’s team, 1138.6yd§, 8. . . . , , A further race will be flown from Timaru next Saturday, an airline distance of 528 miles.
