FARMERS LEAVE FARMS
DISHEARTENED BY LOSSES BRISBANE, Nov. 10. Disheartened by losses. many Queensland farmers have decided tc leave their farms and seek work in the cities. They plan to make fresh starts when good rains fall and they can re-stock their properties. Bushfires are still threatening a wide area.. Farmers have been unable to prevent fires from destroying thousands of acres of scrub but. by strenuous efforts, they have preserved fences, homesteads and outbuildings. .Normally good watering places have become muddy death traps for weak cattle. Horses have been used in many districts to pull bogged beasts to firm ground, but now they are becoming too weak for work.
