NO PRIVATE CARS
DECISION IN JAPAN ONLY SPECIAL PURPOSES KOBE (Japan), Oct. G. Prior to enforcing the ban on the use of private cars from October 1, die traffic section of the Hyogo and Osaka Frefcctural Office has been making investigations. These now nave been concluded and officials arc now awaiting the day of enforcement. Cars used for special purposes such ns for consulates, doctors, and newspaper offices, will be given special permits, while those being used by war industries will be carefully studied according to their importance and permits given if considered absolutely necessary. Private automobiles .bus"having permits will have to carry a special sign on the windshield. The chief of the Osaka traffic section is quoted as saying that it is only latural that the use of private cars should be abolished, but there will be the question of unemployment and the problem of unsaleable cars which rejuire special consideration. “Regarding unemployment,” he said, “I don’t think there will be any real difficulty, as various industries are at present experiencing a labour shortage.”
